It shows or hides alert messages to inform if the cooling level is correct, if it exceeds or is low the suitable temperature. These are its colour changes:

  •        Blue triangle 2ºC <: Temperature too cold. The temperature is under 2ºC.
  •        Blue triangle 2ºC < and > Red 8ºC: Correct temperature. The temperature range is between 2ºC and 8ºC.
  •        > Red triangle 8ºC: Temperature too hot. The temperature is above 8ºC.
This indicator is designed to control the correct operation of the cooling of refrigerators for the compliance of the refrigeration chain. Being reversible, it will always show the real temperature conditions.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) reversible temperature label.  This indicator is manufactured with a self-adhesive base printed by next generation LCD encapsulated microcrystals known as Easy Read Single Colour Below (SBC).   These crystals are a non-toxic mixture of liquid crystalline esters. The label is covered a thin layer of transparent polyester.

It does not contain batteries, electronic components or toxic substances. The label is flexible and can be stuck to curved surfaces.

This indicator is designed to be immersed in water at room temperature for 3 hours. Its prolonged exposure to UV radiation is not recommended.

Accuracy: +/- 1ºC

This label has been manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001.

This indicator and its components are non toxic and comply with RoHS 3 (EU2015/863), WEE and Reach regulations. This means that they are not harmful to the environment and human health.

Uses of LCD temperature indicator for the cold chain

This reversible temperature indicator for the control of the refrigeration chain has been designed to monitor the temperature level of refrigerators or cold stores in an easy way. It is particularly indicated in the food, pharmaceutical and hospitality industries where monitoring the refrigeration chain for the correct preservation of food, vaccines and medicines is necessary.

The temperature of fridges, refrigerators and cold stores can be adjusted and these devices also come with temperature sensors. Nevertheless, the prolonged use or the position of the aforesaid sensors sometimes cause that the temperature of some areas of the fridge does not exactly correspond to the appropriate levels of conservation to comply with the refrigeration chain requirements.

A too high temperature and an excessive level of cooling may alterate food storage processes and consequently vary their expiry period and characteristics.  With reference to medicines or vaccines, these conditions may affect their performance or compromising their quality being harmful to the health. Both cases are of extreme importance as they may create risky conditions for the public health.

An adhesive temperature indicator to monitor refrigeration areas is an additional solution to comply with the refrigeration chain requirements.  Wireless and with no electronic components, this label can be placed anywhere in the cold store or on several places. Moreover, any worker may easily detect possible temperature faults with the naked eye.

This indicator is commonly used in the food industry, ranging from supermarkets to distribution centres and in refrigerated transport. It is also widespread in hospitals and in the pharmaceutical industry as it is used inside refrigerators for the storage of medicines and vaccines as well as for their transportation.
