LCD thermometers components and advantages of use

LCD thermometers components and advantages of use

The current regulations regarding temperature control have become increasingly demanding in multiple areas. Sometimes the regulations only require control with a certain periodicity but, in most processes, it implies continuous control. Therefore, self-adhesive liquid crystal strips are becoming one of the most widely used devices for countless temperature controls. They are a reliable but also economical method to cover this need.

But what are liquid self-adhesive strips or LCD thermometers? These thermometers are precision adhesive strips that allow the temperature to be controlled by a color change. Let's see what they are made up of:

Components of a liquid crystal strip

1 - Transparent Polyester: seals the liquid crystal printed on the paper against the aggression of external agents that can damage it.

2 - Non-toxic organic ink: with it we print the graphics: numbers, letters, boxes that identify and delimit each temperature point

3 - Liquid crystal: this is the thermosensitive substance itself - very labile and manipulable

only in a sterile environment - it is protected under the first 2 layers against the outside and is the one that will indicate the temperature by changing its color.

4 - black layer as background: allows us to easily see the color change of the liquid crystal with increasing temperature:

* BLUE: the temperature is below the calibration point

* GREEN: the actual temperature coincides with the calibration point

* RED / BROWN: the temperature is above the calibration point

5 - Modified acrylic adhesive with polyester backing: its adhesion force of 750N / m allows the strip to stick to curved surfaces and remain unchanged without problems.

6 - Protective paper: allows the transport of the strip and its storage without risk of the adhesive losing its full adherence until the moment of use

Advantages of use LCD thermometer

Self-adhesive liquid crystal strips have been gaining ground in their use as a conventional thermometer compared to other devices thanks to the fact that several of their main characteristics make it one of the most practical temperature measurement methods.

Easy to use

1) Remove protective paper

2) Paste on the surface to be controlled

Easy to interpret

The actual temperature appears in intense GREEN on a BLACK background

Reliable

Accuracy of +/- 1ºC and in strips for medical use +/- 0.5ºC

Does not use batteries and does not contain toxic components

They do not require installation or spare parts (unalterable for more than 2 years)

Flexible

They can be used to control the temperature of curved surfaces

Availability of standard and customizable version

They can be made to measure (limit temperatures: -3ºC / + 90ºC)

In short, it is a very versatile, easy to interpret and economical method, the ideal solution for many of the required temperature controls using an economical, easy to use, clean and totally reliable mode.
